Thai Silk

Yesterday my dad and I went to the Jim Thompson House of Silk. Jim Thompson was an American soldier in World War 2. After the war, because he loved Thailand, he stayed in Thailand.  Eventually he started the company that brought Thai Silk to America. Because he was so weathly, he bought a lot of South east Asian artwork. Which is displayed in his house.
We saw how the silk worm cocoons were made into raw silk. The strand from one cocoon could be one mile long. The man making the silk was sitting on a stool and was smoothing out the silk. There were several strands coming out of a pot of boiling water in which the cocoons were cooking. The strands would come together and make a strand of silk.

And also, my mom played a concert at 8 o clock and she did great. She saw her friend from her school that she probably did not see for about 20 years!

Bangkok, Thailand

On Friday we flew to Bangkok on the airline Jet Star. When we got off the plane, a man who organized my mom's schedule picked us up from the airport, and took us to the hotel. We are staying at Amari Boulevard. The room is great and very big.

On Sunday, my dad and I went to the Wat Pho Temple. We took a subway to the end of the line, then took a tuk tuk which is a three wheeled taxi motorcycle. Then we took a water taxi across the water and walked to Wat Pho. Wat Pho is the sight of several Buddhist temples. It has hundreds of Buddha statues and including the biggest reclining Buddha in the world. It is 45 meters long and 15 meters high covered in real gold!

Last day in Singapore

On Tuesday, we went to the Singapore zoo and saw all sorts of amazing animals.

(This is just a small part. There are at least 2,800 animals and 280 species)

Singapore days

On Tuesday my family and I (and Ben) went to the Night Safari park. The park had all kinds of animals including a tiger, elephants, a jaguar, lions, rhinos, giraffes and other things. The animals that to me were the scariest were the bats.

You would go through several big doors and a wall of chains so that the bats couldn't get out. When you were in, you could see the bats hanging upside down and eating fruit because they were fruit bats. The reason I was scared was you would be in the same room as the bats. They could fly around you and I even screamed because I heard the wings of the bat flap.
(Unfortunately since it was night, I did not get any good pictures. )

And we also rode a tram which took us to the middle of the park so we could get to look at more animals. The tram is where we saw the rhinos, and elephants. And the giraffes.

(Sunday, 29th)
Yesterday my mom's friends whole family and my family went sightseeing and got souvenirs. When we went sightseeing we went to the Peak. It is the highest place in Hong Kong. Then for bying souvenirs we went to Stanley Market. It was huge! For souvenirs we got scarfs and other things for my family. I got a chain watch, a Chinese umbrella and a scarf.

 The first day in Singapore

On Monday we flew to Singapore on an airline called Jet Star. It wasn't the biggest plane I've been on and it didn't have a TV so I played with my tablet. When we arrived in Singapore we met with my mom's friend, Ben. After we got out of the parking lot, we went to a fancy restaurant named Long Beach.

It served seafood. In Asia the host in restaurants would order for you and you would take a little piece and try it. Ben ordered for us and he ordered appetizers and the main meal was crab. At the restaurant, you could see your food before you ate it. The crab wss covered in a very good sauce that my mom loved.  The way you eat crab is you crack the shell open and you pick out the meat. It was so messy that you would wear a big bib.

Day six in Hong Kong

 Yesterday in Hong Kong we went to the art museum. For me it wasn't that interesting,  but my parents liked it. It had lots of old ancient paintings, sculptures and other things. They didn't have abstract so that's why I didn't like it that much.

And after that we went to my mom's concert and then she had a 2 hour masterclass. They were great. My mom did a great job.

Day five in Hong Kong

Yesterday my dad and I went to the science museum(it was open). It was really cool. The museum's sections include transportation, magnets, electricity, food science and other things. In the children's section, you could look at how you use a grain elevator. And you could make huge bubbles that you could almost put on like clothes.

And I also made cloud rings and the way I did that was they had a smoke machine with a spring loaded disc with a hole in the middle for the cloud to come out.
